Professional Frigidaire Repair in Irvine and South Orange County
A lot of Frigidaire calls start in the garage. An upright freezer full of food is suddenly at 20°F, or the second fridge out there is sweating and warm. Inside the kitchen it's ice makers, water under the refrigerator, and ovens that won't heat. Alpha & Omega does professional Frigidaire repair in Irvine, Tustin and Lake Forest and the rest of South County to San Clemente, with refrigerators and freezers first.
We're an independent repair company, not part of Frigidaire's own service network. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Frigidaire first.
Which Frigidaire appliances do you repair?
Frigidaire and Frigidaire Gallery refrigerators in all the usual styles, upright and chest freezers, and the Frigidaire Professional column refrigerators and freezers. On the cooking side, Frigidaire, Gallery and Professional ranges and wall ovens, gas and electric.
Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux, and parts are shared across a lot of models, so they're easy to get.
Why is my Frigidaire freezer not freezing?
Start with the location. A freezer in a hot garage works much harder than one in the house. In August and September, a closed garage in Lake Forest or Rancho Santa Margarita can sit well above 90°F, and that's when weak parts give up. A freezer that keeps up fine in March can start losing ground then.
Things you can check safely: the door gasket, by closing the door on a dollar bill and pulling. If it slides out easily, that spot leaks. Whether anything inside blocks the vent at the back. And how much dust has packed the condenser coil near the floor. Unplug the freezer and vacuum the coil once a year, more often in a dusty garage.
Then there's frost. Many Frigidaire upright freezers are frost-free, but plenty of uprights and nearly all chest freezers are manual defrost. On a manual defrost unit, defrost once the frost is about a quarter inch thick, because past that it insulates the walls and the freezer can't keep cold. On a frost-free unit, heavy frost on the back panel means the defrost system or the evaporator fan has failed, and that's a repair. Our freezer not cooling guide covers both types.
Why is there water under my Frigidaire refrigerator?
On some Frigidaire refrigerators, the defrost drain at the bottom of the freezer is prone to freezing. When it does, melted frost builds a sheet of ice on the freezer floor, and later it spills out as water under the fridge or in front of it. Clearing it with warm water works for a while. If it keeps coming back, the drain heater or the defrost cycle has a fault that needs fixing.
A puddle can also come from the water side: a loose or cracked filter, the inlet valve behind the fridge, or a pinched supply line from when the fridge was pushed back. If the water is clearly coming from the line, close the supply valve and call. Don't leave a dripping line overnight on a wood floor.
Why is my Frigidaire refrigerator making noise?
Some sounds are normal. A low hum when the compressor runs, a soft gurgle or hiss as refrigerant moves, a crack or pop as plastic shifts during defrost. None of those need a repair.
A rattle, grinding or high squeal is different. Inside the freezer it's usually the evaporator fan, either a worn motor or the blade hitting ice that built up from a defrost problem. At the bottom back it's often the condenser fan, which can also pick up debris. A loud buzz and click from the compressor area while nothing cools points to the start components. Our refrigerator noise guide helps you tell them apart by ear.
Why did my Frigidaire ice maker stop?
Check the switch or arm first, then the freezer temperature, which should be near 0°F. Then the filter. After that it's the fill tube, the inlet valve or the ice maker module itself. On models with the ice maker in the fresh food door, a jam in the ice bin or chute is common. We'd rather you didn't pry at it with metal tools. Let it thaw with the door open instead, with towels underneath.
Do you work on Frigidaire Professional column units?
Yes. The Frigidaire Professional all-refrigerator and all-freezer columns are often installed side by side to look like one wide unit. Each column is a separate appliance with its own compressor and controls, so a warm freezer column doesn't mean the refrigerator next to it is in trouble. We diagnose them one at a time.
The usual faults are the ones any frost-free unit gets: a fan that quits, a defrost part that fails, an ice maker that stops. Before you call, check that nothing is pressed against the back wall inside, because these columns are deep and a full shelf can block the air outlet without anyone noticing.
What goes wrong with Frigidaire ovens and ranges?
The most common oven problem on Frigidaire electric ranges is a failed bake element, and you can often see the burn mark on it. On gas ranges, the oven igniter weakens with age, and preheats get slower before the oven stops lighting at all. If the oven heats but runs hot or cold, the temperature sensor or the control board is usually behind it.
Before Thanksgiving, run a quick check. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes with a basic thermometer on the middle rack, and if it reads far off, call before the holiday week fills up. Details on our oven and range repair page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Frigidaire garage freezer stop freezing in summer?
A hot garage makes the freezer work much harder, and weak parts tend to fail then. Check the door gasket and vacuum the condenser coil. If it still can't hold temperature, the fan, defrost system or compressor needs a look.
How often should I defrost my Frigidaire upright freezer?
If it's a manual defrost model, defrost once the frost is about a quarter inch thick. On a frost-free model, heavy frost means something in the defrost system has failed.
Why is there water under my Frigidaire refrigerator?
Often the defrost drain at the bottom of the freezer has frozen, so meltwater spills out. It can also be the filter, the inlet valve or the water line behind the fridge.
Is my Frigidaire refrigerator noise normal?
A hum, a gurgle or an occasional pop is normal. Grinding, rattling or a high squeal usually means a fan problem, and a buzz with clicking while nothing cools points to the compressor start parts.
How much is a Frigidaire service call?
$95 for a refrigerator or freezer and $85 for an oven or range. The fee is applied toward the repair, and repairs carry a 90-day parts and labor warranty.
